The Bonne Chance Pinzgauer Stud started on the 5th off May 2011 at the Dispersal sale of Overberg Pinzgauers Napier.
At the auction, Emiel and Lisa attempted to buy the Heart and Vision of the Overberg stud and with a lot of help from Hennie Andrews and Paul Bester (ZZ2), succeeded to walk away with an Elite herd of cattle that has almost doubled in size since the original truckload that started the arduous journey to the southern slopes of the Magalies-mountains.
The animals adjusted well to their new environment and now walk in a Heart water, Red water and Anaplasmosis area – unfortunately they lost one young heifer to clinical heart water, but all the other animals have built up immunity and are grazing merrily in the lovely Hekpoort Bushveld.
The arrival of the herd was followed up by a strict artificial insemination program using Mr. Mooketsi (line breeding) and Sir Ramkat. The first batch of this artificial insemination program is expected June ‘12 and all our breedable Heifers will soon be inseminated with Mr. Frans.
